Description
This 2015 poster by John August Swanson features his 1972 crayon sgraffito painting, Mexican Picnic. The inspiration for the painting is a family photograph, taken in 1925, on the feast of St. John (June 24th).
Quoted in the poster are the author and poet Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the theologian and philosopher Jean Vanier, the activist Fr. Daniel Berrigan SJ, and the words of a folk song. Each of the quotes are on the importance of sharing food and building community.
