The image for this poster comes from Swanson’s 1971 Serigraph, Five Dollar Gold Piece–one print from a series he made reimagining currency with quotes from poets, thinkers, and great people.
In 2015, Swanson combined the image from the original serigraph, with hand drawn text from Pope Francis’s encyclical, Laudato Si, and published the poster in two variations–one with a white background, and one with a radial, rainbow gradient background.
