An earlier version of this poster was created to support the 2012 California ballot initiative Proposition 34. Swanson adapted this poster in 2017, incorporating the final image of Crucifixion III (Giclee edition, 2013) with a message from Pope Francis, calling for a universal end to the death penalty.
