Description
CRUCIFIXION III began as a sketch I made in 1978. In the Fall of 2011, Emory University approached me to create Lenten images. I revisited the original sketch, and started a large mixed media painting. Variations of this image appeared in a series of posters I created in support of Proposition 34, which called for the end of the death penalty in California.
In early 2013, I radically changed the color palate to brilliant shades of yellow and aquamarine. The painting was then later purchased by Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, and is part of their permanent collection.
