Adapted from a 1984 acrylic painting, THE BRIDGE is a melding of my memories of living in London and crossing bridges over the Thames, as well as my experiences in America crossing the Golden Gate, Manhattan, and Brooklyn bridges to enter large urban cities. It is painted in my own style, and, while it relates to real locations, it is my own bridge leading to a bustling metropolis of my own imagination.
Bridges are important as symbols. A bridge reaches across a distance, as it overcomes an obstacle, and forms a passage.
The bridge spans the gap between here and there, and is used equally by both the rich and the poor.
