Description

Center stage in the circus arena, the spotlight illuminates the strongest of the acrobats. He stands steady as the others balance each other atop his powerful arms. The performers’ intricately patterned outfits of stars, hearts, diamonds and circles add to the viewer’s sense of wonder and amazement. Together, the six man team form a beautiful tree-like structure.

ACROBATS is a two plate etching. The figures were on one plate, while the atmosphere was on another. Gradation and tonal effects were achieved through use of Aquatint, and various colors were rubbed into the plates using cotton daubs, à la poupée.
